Kristen Onsgard – Dallas

First Vice President

Contact Me

Kristen is a Dallas native who earned her M.S. in Marine Biology from Texas A&M University. She works as a statistician for SCA, the promotions firm owned by Bob Hamman, who also serves as her bridge mentor. Her love of card games grew from family traditions—bridge on her father’s side and pinochle on her mother’s—and she learned bridge sitting on her father’s lap during kitchen-table games. A two-time ACBL National Champion and two-time gold medalist at the South American Bridge Championships, Kristen is also a committed leader and teacher in the bridge community. She serves as First Vice President of the District 16 ACBL board and sits on the board of the American Bridge Teachers’ Association (ABTA). She is an ABTA Master Teacher, an ACBL-accredited instructor, a certified ACBL online instructor, and a club director.

Scott Nason – Dallas

Second Vice President

Contact Me

Scott learned to play bridge in college and played duplicate bridge from 1973-1977, then mostly gave it up for about 35 years to get married, raise a family, and have a career as an executive for American Airlines (AA). After retiring from AA, he returned to the tournament circuit. Scott became a Life Master in 2012, Bronze in 2014, Silver in 2016, Ruby in 2017, Gold in 2020 and Sapphire in 2023. He has a few high finishes in National events, including winning the Flight B North American Pairs in 2018. Scott is a bridge director and frequent lecturer and works as a bridge instructor/director on cruise ships. He was the District 16 (D16) GNT Coordinator and NABC Correspondent for many years. Scott served six years on the Unit 176 Board and then as the unit’s representative on the D16 Board. He has been awarded the Jacoby Award for service to the D16, the National Goodwill Committee and The D16 President’s Extra Mile award. When not playing bridge or working for the bridge community, Scott is usually playing golf, traveling with his wife, Meryl, or visiting his grandchildren in DC.

Linda Drake – Fulshear

Executive Secretary

Contact Me

Born in Wisconsin, Linda lived throughout the Midwest, working after undergrad as a statistician and, later after her masters and becoming a Charter Financial Analyst®, as a portfolio manager.  She grew up playing euchre and other card games, always dreaming of the day she could play bridge like her parents did. She took a bridge class in 2014, but without a partner, that dream remained unrealized. After moving to the Houston area in 2017, Linda’s cousin insisted she get out of the house, and suggested that a bridge class might be the answer. Linda discovered the Westside Bridge Academy and was immediately hooked. Although she is a relatively inexperienced bridge player, Linda hopes her enthusiasm for the game will buoy her ability to be a useful and engaged Executive Secretary for District 16.

Jack LaVigne – Houston

Immediate Past President

Contact Me

Jack was introduced to bridge in 1971, four months after college while waiting to join the US Army. He has been fascinated with the game ever since. In the service from 1971-1975 he served as a lieutenant in Air Defense Artillery in El Paso, Germany, and Korea. After the service, he worked for Schlumberger 1976-2015. As a member of Unit 174 he was on the board in Houston, during his term holding various offices including president. He has also served as the District 16 Recorder and currently is a volunteer at a local club. It has also been a great honor to be a District 16 Star Award recipient. He has had two strong role models I strive to emulate: Jim Brister and Ed Groner. Those two always made opponents feel comfortable with warm greetings, and were able to get the best from their partners. Jack deeply misses them both and hopes to continue their tradition.
